From the financial success of the 1995 SWE National Conference (hosted by SWE-Boston), SWE-Boston allocated a portion of the Conference overage to sponsor scholarships for women students studying engineering at local colleges and universities. SWE-Boston allows the universities to choose the recipients,
based on three simple criteria: junior or senior standing, any field of
engineering, and a combined financial need and proven high academic record.
