Senior Industrial Engineer
The Senior Industrial Engineer will identify and lead value improvement and waste elimination projects that drive site and company performance improvements while promoting the development and advancement of the lean culture within the site.
Initiate and lead lean projects (i.e. Lean Production, Lean Support and Born Lean) with the Production, Operations, Facilities and support functions. Introduce and advance the lean operations culture, principles and practices across the distribution center and work with local management to create and drive the Lean vision for the site. Constantly promote, educate and instill the culture of waste identification and elimination throughout the site in operations and support areas Develop and conduct Lean training programs for employees at all levels and departments. Create, maintain and refine a Lean toolkit that can include: 5S, Kaizen, quick change over, value stream mapping, mistake proofing and line balancing. Promote cross-functional and inter-site teamwork to accomplish shared objectives. May guide, mentor or provide work direction to other members of the project teams.
Lead facility layout and design projects with the Inbound and Outbound Operations, Production, Quality, Facilities and other departments.
Improves upon company's distribution and production facilities and equipment layouts; determines the most efficient sequence of operations and work flow; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of equipment, facilities and personnel. Evaluate overall operations including order fill rates, cost and process improvement programs, operational budgets and product delivery time to ensure operations meets or exceeds income and cost goals and targets.
Identify key value improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma tools.
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, or equivalent required.
Formal training and substantial experience in Lean methodology.
Continuing education in Supply Chain, Distribution or Warehouse Management fields. 7-10 years in manufacturing or distribution environment .
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD required.

Senior Engineer, R&D (Core GI)
Purpose/Role Statement:
The Sr. Engineer will be responsible for the product design and development aspects of complex systems with a focus on innovative mechanical devices that address the customer needs for a complete procedural solution. The candidate will work closely with members of the project core team (marketing, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory) as well as interface directly with customers & key opinion leaders.
Develops new technology, products, materials, processes, or equipment with minimal supervision. Independently, or as a member of a team, develops, directs, and executes plans for a major segment of complex projects.
Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish technical specifications for designing or modifying products, processes, and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consistently generates innovative and unique solutions to market needs and submits idea disclosures. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined products, processes or equipment.
- Successfully completes complex engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, test of materials or products, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigation (animal and clinical studies), and report preparation.
- Selects techniques to solve complex problems and make sound design recommendations.
- Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from complex test results using valid statistical techniques.
- Designs and prepares complex reports to communicate results to technical community.
- Designs and coordinates complex engineering tests and experiments.
- Coordinates, manages, and documents project goals and progress and recommends appropriate revisions.
- Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products or equipment.
- Interfaces with Physicians/GI Lab personnel to obtain feedback on concepts and performance of new devices.
- Translates customer needs into product requirements and design specifications.
- Responsible for engineering documentation
- Works cooperatively with external development OEM partners, process development, quality, OEM/internal manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.
- May train and/or provide work direction to technicians and entry-level engineers.
- Demonstrates PDP/TDP system knowledge through delivery of high quality and high impact deliverables
- Considers mechanical engineering principles in product design/development and ensures compliance to applicable IEC standards
- 10% travel to manufacturing locations and vendors both domestically and internationally
Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements
- Prepare design /engineering documentation aspects in support of FDA submissions
Qualifications:
- Typical minimum education/years experience: BS in Mechanical Engineering/Technical Field; 5+ years experience (3+ years with MS, 2 years exp. with Ph.D.).
- Experience/Education with Mechanical and/or Polymer Devices / Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Knowledge of CAD/ solid modeling (Solid Works) GD&T and FEA are preferred
- Competent in the application of statistical analysis software (Minitab preferred)
- Experience with mechanical metrology and testing equipment (Smart Scope / Instron)
